Whitney stepped into her apartment. It was a small place, one bedroom one bathroom. She closed the door behind her, kicking off her shoes as she walked to the small kitchenette connected to the main room. It had been a good day, she had got new shoes, dropped off her resume at a few places, and her favorite noodles were in stock at the store. As she opened the fridge, browsing the ingredients and contemplating some leftovers, she felt a hand on her back.
"Hey, babe"
The hand ran down her back, making Whitney stand up as she felt Everett's arm wrap around her waist. She leaned back, feeling herself rest against his chest, his embrace warming her in a way she couldn't describe.
"Hey, how's it going?"
Everett's head rested on her shoulder, her hand coming up to his cheek. Whitney closed her eyes as he held her.
"Going good, chatted with a girl in the park. You?"
"Met someone, eh?"
"Jealous?"
Whitney turned, wrapping her arms around Everett's shoulders. He grinned, his eyes staring into hers.
"Nope."
Whitney leaned forward, a metallic sheen forming where her body met Everett's. As the two of them recombined, Everett remained, opening the fridge again and taking out some carrots, green onions, and some wieners.
"I'll dice these if you want to start the noodles."
"Sure."
The two separated again, Whitney stepping out of Everett's body once more. She was wearing a pair of booty shorts and and an oversized T-shirt as she grabbed a pot from the cupboard. Everett pulled a knife from the drawer, starting to chop the ingredients as he whistled to himself. Whitney began to carry the tune as she set the pot to boil, grabbing some soy sauce, vinegar, and some other seasonings as well.
"Do we still got that garlic powder?"
"Yeah, it's here."
"Any onions?"
"Ah crap, I knew I forgot something from the store..."
They both started whistling again, but couldn't synchronize. Mvrcvrial started to grow scared, but couldn't figure out why. Whitney placed the noodles into the pot, slowly adding the seasoning until the water turned a dark brown. Everett joined her by the stove, using the knife to push the other ingredients from the cutting board and into the pot. He put a hand on Whitney's back, calming Mvrcvrial as they felt their two pieces coming back into contact. Everett pulled back, getting two bowls out and leaving them on the counter next to the stove as Whitney stirred the pot.
"Want me to pick up onions tomorrow?"
"I can do it. Who knows? Might run into that girl again."
"Tori, right? She seems nice."
Everett looked over to her, his voice playfully knowing.
"You read my mind."
