Byron looked to his phone. The couch under him was soft, familiar, though he preferred the hard armrest he leaned against. Information came in, ongoing business profiting him, new deals being brokered, old deals resolving and needing to be renewed or renegotiated. He couldn't help but feel himself smiling. Alone in his living room, looking over the stream of information in the palm of his hand, he felt a reassuring level of control that bolstered his confidence. He could brace himself for bad news without it weighing on him like it normally would.

Byron's smile widened, the ring feeling warm against his skin, completing him. He looked back to his phone, looking over a list of companies that would be willing to buy his materials. He was sure his people could get lucrative contracts for him, but he considered the possibility of meeting with some representatives himself. Byron had made some big moves since he had arrived, but he'd done his best not to make too many waves as he did. He didn't know who or what would come sniffing around if he drew too much attention...

Byron's phone buzzed in his hand, the screen lighting up with a message from an unknown number: "Luck has been on your side, Mr. Annatar." Before he could process it, another message followed: "I have an offer for you." A final message appeared, the words lingering on the screen like a silent whisper: "One that will give you an empire on the stock market—forever."
As the words lingered on the screen, a chilling sensation swept through the room. The temperature seemed to drop suddenly, and the light in the room appeared to dim, as if the shadows themselves were creeping closer. An unsettling silence settled over the space, amplifying the eerie stillness. The room, once warm and familiar, now felt like a cage closing in on him, as though the offer on his screen was not just a business deal, but a dark omen.
