Hello and welcome to Earth One. We are delighted that you are considering us for your role-playing needs. Below is a list of rules that all members agree to abide by upon joining the forum so please read them carefully. They are as followed:
1.) Registration
You are free to register with any username you wish as long as it doesn't directly violate the ProBoards TOS or Community Guidelines. But once you have a character in mind please use the character's first and last name as the Display Name. If the character doesn't have a surname that's fine. But do not use their alias for example if you're playing Superman your display name would be “Clark Kent” instead of “Superman.”
2.) Accounts
You can have as many or as little accounts as you'd like, as long as you're honest about which ones are yours. No trying to fool people into believing you're multiple people. If you would like to play all your characters on one account that's fine too. We have a plugin that will allow you to switch between characters once you have more than one.
3.) Posting
We do not have a posting requirement or word count. Though we do ask that you be considerate to your partner and give them something to work with. We believe that life comes first at Earth One so there is no pressure to be extremely active. Log in when you want and log out when you want. The forum will be here when you return.
4.) Characters
Here on Earth One you can play as any character you'd like. This can be a preexisting character from a preexisting fandom like Harry Potter or Resident Evil. To an original character from a preexisting fandom or one of your own creation. Sky's the limit and there is no restriction on who or what you can make. We do ask however that if you're making a preexisting character please use your own words in the history and don't just blatantly copy the wiki. We will find out and your application could be denied because of it.
5.) Activity
In order to ensure that people aren't making too many characters or making them too much we ask that you have at least TEN in character posts before making another character. This way you will at least have established the character you made before making another. There are no limits on how many characters you can have.
6.) Godmodding
We ask that at no time during the role-play you godmode, powerplay, or metagame. Godmodding is when you have an all powerful character with no weaknesses or flaws. This is simply not how role-playing works. Please give your character weaknesses and flaws to balance them out.
Another form of godmodding is called Powerplaying. That's where you describe actions that are not your own. Like saying when a character moved or spoke when the original poster wrote no such thing. It's also where you call an attack, say it hit, and then how much damage it did. Don't do it! Be considerate to your role play partner and give them a chance to dodge/block/counter the attack.
The last form of godmodding is called “Metagaming” where you use out of character information (OOC) in-game. Don't do it! All information your character knows must be explained in-game.
7.) Content Rating
Due to ProBoards TOS and Community Guidelines we must ask that all posts on the forum be at least PG-13 in content and members must be at least 13 years of age to register. This means no posts of extreme violence or of a sexual nature. If your characters must indeed “DO IT” then either time skip or fade to black. While some violence is allowed don't be intensely graphic with it. Use your common sense and if you have questions ask the staff. Basically anything you've seen in a PG-13 rated film is acceptable for here.
8.) OOC Activity & Expectations
As a member of Earth One you are expected to respect both staff and your fellow members alike on the forum regardless of personal differences or writing level. You are not to curse, insult, or hide insults in humor against your fellow member or staff. If you have an issue with a member take it up with them in private and if you can't settle it privately then involve a member of staff. We will not tolerate any hate, bigotry, or harassment towards other members and people who engage in this type of behavior will be banned.
Thank you for reading these Rules and Guidelines. These rules are subject to change at any time at staff's discretion and without prior warning, so please check back here regularly. Breaking the rules and then claiming you didn't know the rules will not fly here. We hope everyone has a fun and enjoyable experience here at Earth One.
