Kazadus didn’t waste a second when he saw Dante hovering in the air. Gaia’s gravity manipulation had done the trick, giving him the opening he needed. “Funny thing about being in the air!” he shouted, his voice booming with adrenaline and raw aggression. With a powerful leap, he launched himself toward Dante, his muscles coiling like a spring and releasing with explosive power.
As he closed the distance, his fist pulled back, energy coursing through his body. “It’s a lot harder to dodge,” he growled, his voice barely audible over the roar of flames and wind. He drove his fist forward, right through Dante’s fiery barrier. The heat was intense, searing his skin instantly and burning away the sleeve of his olive green jacket. His arm screamed with pain, but he gritted his teeth, pushing through the agony.
The impact connected solidly with Dante’s chest, sending him hurtling out of the gaping hole in the wall and crashing down to the street below. The force of the blow left a small crater where Dante landed, dust and debris flying everywhere. The cops and civilians below shouted and scrambled, creating a chaotic scene as they tried to get back and out of harm’s way.
Kazadus landed heavily on the street level, crouching to absorb the impact before straightening up. His scorched arm was already starting to heal, the burned flesh knitting itself back together as he looked back up at Gaia. “Hey, kid, what’s a video ga—?”
Before he could finish his question, a massive eruption of fire exploded from the crater where Dante had landed. Flames sprayed wildly around the area, licking at nearby cars and storefronts, setting off alarms and adding to the chaos. Kazadus jumped back just in time to avoid being engulfed, feeling the intense heat wash over him.
He watched as his scorched arm continued to regenerate, his flesh knitting itself back together as quickly as it had been burned. Dante emerged from the flames, looking more enraged than ever, his eyes blazing with fury and his body wreathed in a torrent of fire.
Dante strode out of the crater, brushing off bits of rubble from his tattered suit, his expression shifting from rage to a twisted grin. “That actually hurt,” he said, his voice dripping with dark amusement. Flames flickered along his body, singeing what little remained of his clothes, but it was clear the impact had done some damage.
Kazadus took a deep breath, his gaze locking onto Dante as he stood on the solid ground of the earth again. He could feel the tension building, the anticipation of the next move. Without taking his eyes off Dante, he turned his head slightly toward Gaia. He’d heard all about her earth manipulation skills, and now was the perfect time to put them to use.
A knowing smirk crossed his lips as he caught her eye, a silent message passing between them: You know what to do.

Gaia watched as the two battled it out in the air and Dante went crashing out the hole in the wall and onto the ground below them. Gaia looked out the hole towards the man on the ground thinking it was over before the eruption of fire emerged from the ground. Gaia got out of the way and waited for the flames to die down before making a makeshift platform of earth and swooping down to the ground outside where both Dante and Kazadus were. Seeing his eyes Gaia merely nodded her head. Now she was surrounded by what she couldn't use back on the top floor of the complex.
Gaia stomped her foot and a sphere of earth shot up from the ground and she launched it with the palm of her hand towards Dante. If he managed to avoid that she would later raise up a wall of earth and send it crashing into the man. Upon contact the wall would explode into little tiny shards and then collide into the man's body looking to knock him unconscious as Gaia prepared for any potenital counter attack Dante might try. Fire was no joke.

Dante dodged the sphere of earth with a quick burst of flame, but Gaia was ready. The wall of earth shot up next, slamming into him with full force. The impact was brutal, and the wall exploded into a barrage of shards that tore into Dante’s body. For a moment, it seemed like she might have done it—ended the fight in one decisive move. But then things took a grim turn.
The intense heat from Dante's body ignited the earth, melting it into molten lava. He screamed, his body seemingly consumed by the scorching, liquid rock. The street went silent, save for the bubbling and hissing of the newly formed lava. It was as if time itself froze. Emergency workers and civilians, who had been watching from behind barricades or through the windows of nearby buildings, stood frozen in shock and horror. Gasps rippled through the crowd, some turning away, unable to bear what they believed to be a brutal death unfolding before them.
Even Kazadus, hardened by countless battles, felt the weight of the moment settle over him. The hero, the girl with the no-kill rule, might have just crossed a line she could never come back from.
Kazadus turned to Gaia, his expression softened from its usual hardened edge. Despite his stance on Dante’s fate, he hadn’t wanted this to fall on her conscience. This wasn’t her burden to bear. He placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, a rare show of empathy from the grizzled bounty hunter. "Kid...," he began, his voice unusually gentle, trying to find the words to comfort her in the face of what seemed like a tragic mistake.
But before he could say more, the molten mass began to stir. The lava bubbled and shifted, moving unnaturally as if being guided by an unseen hand. The air around them grew hotter, waves of intense heat radiating outward, distorting the very air. The emergency workers and civilians took several steps back, fear and disbelief evident on their faces, their eyes wide as they watched the horror unfold.
Kazadus removed his hand from Gaia’s shoulder, his expression shifting back to its usual grim determination. He pulled a hilt from his coat, its sleek design contrasting with the brutal scene unfolding around them. He poured his energy into the hilt, and it began to glow with a fierce, golden light. In a moment, a massive blade of pure energy materialized, shimmering with a golden hue, crackling with barely contained power.
Turning to Gaia, Kazadus’s voice was edged with urgency. “How strong is your gravitational control?”
The lava giant’s molten form roiled and shifted, the heat it emitted warping the air around them. The sight of it was both awe-inspiring and terrifying. Kazadus readied his energy blade, the weapon humming with energy as he prepared to engage the creature.
“I’ll hold Dante off as best I can,” Kazadus continued, his gaze fixed on the monstrous form. “You need to gather as much water as you can—water towers, rivers, hydrants, sewage pipes whatever you can find. Flood this thing before it gets any worse. We cool him off fast enough and he'll be frozen stiff.”
The blade in his hand radiated a fierce light, casting long shadows across the scene. Kazadus nodded at Gaia, signaling her to get moving. “I’m counting on you, Gaia.” He was putting his trust in the teen hero.
With that, Kazadus charged and leaped towards the lava giant, his energy blade slicing through the air as he engaged the creature in combat. The fiery behemoth roared, its molten form reacting violently to the assault. Kazadus’s energy blade cut through the lava with fierce precision, buying Gaia the time she needed to prepare for their next move.

Gaia's emerald green eyes from behind the black pair of goggles widened in shock and horror as she saw the response of Dante's body when her earth collided with him. She outstretched her right hand to try to stop it, but it was too late. Far too late.
"No! No! NO!"
She couldn't believe it. That wasn't supposed to be enough to kill him. To take a life. Like the lives she took when her powers got out of control. When the earthquake happened back in Wyandotte County. Kansas City. A sick reminder of just how dangerous her earth powers were when left unchecked. Her eyes started to water and tears formed as she felt the hand on her shoulder and the empathic smile from the other man.
"I-"
Before Gaia could say anything else it proven elsewise that she had killed Dante. Instead he was reduced to a fire giant threatening everything around them. Kazadus asked about her gravity control and then mentioned water. They were in the state of Kansas and the state wasn't known for its water resources. But she saw a fire hydrant over yonder and there was the hose of the fire trucks who were there among the first responders. It was a start.
"Okay!"
Gaia ran over to the fire hydrant and yanked open the top with a plant vine sending the flood of water towards Dante. She then grabbed the hose from the back of the fire truck and ran around to the front.
"I'm sorry, but I need this."
Gaia aimed the hose towards Dante and unleashed a massive jet of water from the hose looking to take down Dante for good, but not kill him. If he could survive this.

Kazadus could feel the searing heat radiating from the lava creature with every slash of his energy sword. Each time his blade connected, the wounds would reform almost instantly, the molten rock knitting itself back together as if taunting him. The heat was intense, blistering his skin with each strike. His regeneration worked overtime, healing the burns just as quickly as they formed, but even that had its limits.
Dante, now a towering lava giant, reveled in the destruction, his deep, guttural laugh echoing through the city streets. With a single, powerful swing, he knocked Kazadus into the wall of a nearby building. The impact sent a shudder through Kazadus’s body, momentarily dazing him as he slumped to the ground. The world around him spun, and for a brief moment, he wondered if this was it.
But Dante wasn’t done. The giant lava monster began charging towards Kazadus, his enormous foot raised to stomp him into the pavement. Just as the shadow of Dante’s foot loomed over him, Kazadus saw a powerful jet of water blast into Dante’s side. The sudden attack from Gaia stunned Dante, forcing him to stagger back and giving Kazadus a much-needed moment to recover.
With a grunt of effort, Kazadus pushed himself to his feet, his body aching and his chest heaving from the strain. His jacket and shirt were scorched, barely hanging onto his body, revealing the heavy burns across his chest that were struggling to heal under the relentless assault of heat. He had no time to dwell on the pain, though; this fight wasn’t over.
Seeing the opportunity, Kazadus charged at Dante, aiming for the creature’s shin. With all his strength, he rammed into the giant’s leg, causing it to topple backward onto the street. The impact sent a tremor through the ground, and for a moment, it seemed like they might have the upper hand.
But as the water cooled parts of Dante’s body, it wasn’t enough to fully stop him. The monster laughed, his voice a deep rumble, as he got back up, steam rising from where the water had hit him. Kazadus watched in frustration as he severed one of Dante’s arms with his energy sword, only for another lava arm to sprout from the stump, just as molten and menacing as before.
The giant swung at Kazadus again, forcing him to block with his energy sword. The weight of the creature and the intense heat bore down on him, driving him to his knees. His muscles trembled with the effort of holding Dante back, his energy sword flickering as he poured everything he had into it.
When it seemed like he couldn’t hold on any longer, something unexpected happened. The girl Kazadus had first spoken to outside, the one who had barely seemed involved in the fight until now, suddenly sprang into action. She began picking up rocks and hurling them at Dante with all her might, screaming at the lava giant, “Leave him alone!”
Her voice was shrill with fear, but there was a raw determination in her eyes. The rocks pelted against Dante's molten surface, doing no real damage but managing to catch his attention. The distraction caused Dante to shift his weight away from Kazadus, focusing instead on the nuisance that dared challenge him.
Kazadus felt the immense pressure lift off his energy sword as Dante’s focus turned to the girl. His muscles, pushed to their breaking point, finally gave out. His legs buckled, and he collapsed to the ground, his body exhausted from the relentless struggle. He could barely move, his breath ragged, each inhalation burning his throat as his regeneration struggled to keep up with the damage. His energy reserves were nearly depleted, and his vision blurred as he tried to stay conscious.
But he couldn't let himself pass out. Not yet. He forced his eyes open, watching Dante turn his rage toward the girl. She was still throwing rocks, her stance defiant but clearly terrified. Kazadus knew she wouldn’t stand a chance against the molten giant.
Kazadus struggled to push himself up, his muscles trembling and barely responding. He watched as the girl continued her desperate barrage of rocks, clearly outmatched but unyielding. And then, something remarkable happened—others began to follow her lead.
The crowd of civilians, who had been standing frozen in fear just moments before, seemed to awaken. One by one, they picked up whatever they could find—rocks, bricks, pieces of broken asphalt, and even garbage cans—and began hurling them at Dante. Their shouts and cries filled the air as they joined in, their collective will merging into a single act of defiance against the towering monstrosity.
The police, who had been hesitant to act in the face of such a bizarre threat, snapped into action. Seeing the people taking a stand and perhaps feeling the weight of their duty, they leveled their firearms at the lava creature and opened fire. Bullets pinged off Dante’s molten surface, but it was the sheer noise and constant impact that seemed to agitate him. The creature roared, a guttural sound that rattled windows and sent shivers through the air, turning its head from side to side as the onslaught continued.
The firefighters, who had been stunned by the presence of the impossible creature, glanced at one another. Inspired by Gaia's bold move with the fire hose, they sprang into action. They grabbed more hoses, dragged them forward, and began blasting Dante with jets of high-pressure water. Streams of water collided with the lava giant, turning to steam on contact. The sudden and intense cooling effect caused parts of Dante's molten form to harden and crack, sending chunks of solidified rock tumbling to the ground.
Kazadus, still on his knees, could feel the shift in momentum. The combined effort of the civilians, police, and firefighters was forcing Dante back. He took in the scene, his breath still heavy but more determined now. The people were fighting back, and together, they were making a difference. His lips curled into a tired but proud smile. He didn’t have to carry this burden alone; these people—these ordinary heroes—were showing the true meaning of courage.
With a grunt, he pushed himself up, feeling the energy return to his limbs as adrenaline pumped through his veins once more. The fight wasn’t over, but now he had the strength of an entire city behind him. He raised his energy sword, the blade still glowing faintly, and prepared to rejoin the battle.
As Kazadus steadied himself, he noticed something crucial—the once-molten lava that made up Dante's body was slowly beginning to solidify again. The relentless blasts of water was cooling him down, turning his fiery exterior back into something more earth-like. Steam hissed from Dante’s cracked surface as he moved, and the glow of molten heat within his body started to fade.
Suddenly, Dante’s massive, now partially solidified hand began to swing downward, aiming to crush the brave civilians who had dared to stand against him. Their courage had sparked a rebellion, and Kazadus couldn’t let that spirit be extinguished. Ignoring his own fatigue and pain, he launched himself toward the giant's hand, his energy sword flickering in and out of existence like a dying flame. With a fierce roar and a desperate surge of will, he swung his sword with all his might.
The blade connected, and in one swift, decisive strike, it severed Dante’s hand clean off. This time, it didn’t burn him. Kazadus landed hard, feeling the solid ground beneath his feet, and looked up to see the enormous, dismembered hand crumble to pieces beside him. The lava giant staggered back, its fire completely extinguished and its form weakened, cracked, and vulnerable.
Dante’s transformation from molten fury to brittle earth meant one thing: he was no longer invincible. He was now a perfect target. Kazadus turned his head to find Gaia, locking eyes with her, and gave a determined nod. This was her moment—this was her chance to end it.

Gaia kept spraying Dante with the hose as best she could when she saw more people starting to step in. The entire city standing behind her and Kazadus as now the citizens, the police, and the firefighters all joined forces to stop Dante from hurting anymore people. From causing any further damage. It was like something from a movie and to her surprise it was working. The fire was starting to burn out and instead earth like material started to form instead as part of Dante's body.
Gaia locked eyes with Kazadus. She didn't know what to do. Was there anything left to salvage of the man he once was? Did she kill him or not? Gaia didn't know if she could do it. She already turned him into some kind of fiery monster. Could she really pull the trigger? If only Gaia could go backwards in time and stop that one assault, but time manipulation wasn't part of her abilities and she'd greatly fear the person who has that in their arsenal. Gaia looked back at Dante and her emerald green eyes narrowed.
"This ends now!"
Gaia extended both her hands outward and then closed them into fists. Taking control of the earthen materials of Dante's body she caused them to weigh down on Dante until they would bound him to the ground unable to move. Unable to fight. She added so much weight to them that they stretched around his body and bound him to the ground so he couldn't escape. There was no running away. He would be imprisoned. Prepared to pay for his crimes as Gaia looked back at Kazadus and smiled.

Kazadus watched as Gaia's power subdued Dante, binding him with unyielding earth. The fiery giant's roars diminished to strained grunts, his body compressing and sinking into the ground as Gaia’s control tightened. The once-intimidating figure of Dante was now a prisoner of the earth, his fiery essence smothered beneath layers of solid rock and soil. The crowd erupted in cheers, their fear replaced by relief and triumph as they witnessed the culmination of their collective effort. Kazadus, despite his fatigue and the burns marring his skin, allowed himself a rare smile of satisfaction. He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of accomplishment that had eluded him for too long. “Nice going, kid,” he said, his voice tired but filled with genuine respect. But the moment of victory was marred by Dante's defiant scream. Even as the monstrous form crumbled away, revealing the burnt and battered man beneath, Dante’s voice rang out with a final, desperate threat. “I’ll kill you all! I am the Inferno! I cannot be beaten!”
Kazadus’s eye darkened, not with fear, but with a cold resolve. He moved deliberately towards the restrained Dante, the weight of his decision heavy on his shoulders. He had promised Gaia that he would take Dante in alive. He could easily end Dante’s life with the press of a trigger, but doing so would betray his promise and reveal him as a man who kills in cold blood, not a man of his word. He pulled his revolver from his jeans, the gun feeling both reassuring and burdensome in his grasp. The sight of Dante’s defiant eyes, filled with malice, only fueled Kazadus’s internal conflict. He could end Dante’s threat forever, but at what cost? He had sworn to Gaia that he would respect her no-kill rule, and now he stood at the crossroads of his own integrity. Kazadus’s hand trembled slightly as he aimed the revolver at Dante. He was torn between the desire for swift justice and the commitment to his promise. The air around them grew tense, the celebratory mood of the crowd now replaced by an uneasy silence. The firefighters, police, and citizens watched in apprehension, their earlier victory now overshadowed by the moral dilemma facing Kazadus.
As he looked down at Dante, his eyes hardened with resolve. He had to choose whether to honor his promise to Gaia and uphold being a man of his word, or to succumb to the temptation of vengeance. The outcome of this battle now hinged on more than just the physical struggle; it was a test of character and the integrity of his word.

Gaia allowed herself a breath of relief as the fiery inferno was now put to rest and subdued by her earth manipulation. The large crowd that had gathered here now cheering as even Kazadus said job well done, and for a change Gaia would let him get away with calling her a kid. She wiped her gloved hands against each other and smiled at the crowd as she was ready to depart leaving Dante to the police on the scene, but then Kazadus pulled out a gun and aimed it at Dante.
Gaia's eyes grew wide in shock. Was he really going to kill him? After all of this effort? All of this justice? He was going to enter the mode of judge, jury, and executioner and waste him? Not on her watch. Not on her time. Gaia rushed over to where Kazadus was standing and stood in front of him defiantly blocking his trajectory to Dante who was still on the ground.
"What are you doing? You said we'd bring him in alive. You gave me your word. Killing him only make us no better than men like him are. Do you want that? Please. Put down the gun. Don't do this."
Gaia pleaded with him through emerald green eyes that was carefully concealed beneath the black goggles.

Kazadus felt the weight of the moment settle heavily upon him, the cheers of the crowd fading into the background as Gaia rushed to stand between him and Dante. His revolver remained aimed, steady, unwavering, but now it faced Gaia’s defiant stance. His eye, cold and calculating, met hers, which were filled with a mix of fear, desperation, and a glimmer of hope.
“You need to move, kid,” he said, his voice low and firm, but even as he spoke, Gaia’s words began to pierce through the fog of his thoughts.
For a moment, he stood frozen. In his mind, a cacophony of voices echoed—a dark and twisted symphony from his past. He could hear The Impure’s chilling tone, that ever-present whisper of malice, taunting him: “You're the perfect killer, Pietro.” Then came the sterile, detached voice of government officials, the ones who had pulled him from that ship: “A soldier like you needs a mission.” His grip on the gun tightened involuntarily, the weight of his own sins pressing down on him.
He was a killer. A man whose hands were stained with more blood than most could ever imagine. This was what he was good at—delivering death, being the weapon when others couldn’t be. But then, beneath the noise of his past, another voice, softer and more distant, began to surface. A woman’s voice—familiar yet elusive, like a half-remembered dream. His wife? Her face remained a blur, hidden by the haze of time, but her words were clear, resonating like a bell through his muddled thoughts: “You're not a monster. A man that keeps his word can't be one.”
Kazadus’s breath hitched, and his arm, still holding the revolver, trembled. Gaia’s eyes remained on him, unyielding, a silent plea for him to make the right choice.
Then came another voice—clearer, louder, and more direct. Valandil. His old friend, silent until now, spoke in his mind with a gravity that only he could muster. “What will you do, Granitus? Your word or your duty? Will you kill in cold blood on the off chance he gets free? Will you spare him and trust these people to do what is right? Are you man or monster?”
Kazadus’s gaze faltered, shifting from Gaia’s face to the ground beneath them, then back to the man he’d almost decided to kill. His heart pounded in his chest, the adrenaline that had fueled him in battle now mixed with a potent cocktail of doubt and introspection.
For what felt like an eternity, he remained silent, wrestling with the conflict inside him. He had been a killer for so long; it was all he knew. But today—today felt different. This wasn’t about another mission or another body added to the pile. This was about something else. Something he hadn’t felt in a long time: honor.
Kazadus stared at Gaia for a moment longer, the battle raging in his mind finally reaching a conclusion. He exhaled sharply, the tension in his shoulders easing just a bit as he slowly lowered the revolver. His expression remained stern, the lines on his face etched with both exhaustion and a guarded determination.
“Alright, Gaia,” he said, his voice steady but carrying a sharp edge. “But understand this—if he gets out, escapes, or isn’t in a cell where he belongs, I’m putting him down. No second chances.”
There was no malice in his words, only a cold, hard practicality. He wasn’t making an empty threat; he was laying out a promise—a contingency for the future. If Dante was ever a threat again, Kazadus wouldn’t hesitate. He had given his word to Gaia, and he would keep it, but only as long as the system worked. If it didn’t, he’d finish what they’d started today.
He holstered the revolver, his eyes still locked on Gaia’s. “I’ll give him to the authorities, but they better make damn sure he stays where he’s put.” The weight of his decision settled in, a mixture of resignation and grim acceptance.
Kazadus then turned slightly, looking at the still-bound and furious Dante, who continued to writhe against the earthen restraints. For a moment, he considered what might happen next—whether the justice system could contain a monster like him. He had his doubts. But for now, he would honor his word.
“Kid…” he muttered, his tone softer now, almost contemplative. “Thank you… for reminding me that I’m human.”
Dante's raspy voice cut through the somber moment like a knife, his words choked and strained from his burns but filled with fury. "You... lying bastard," he gasped, each syllable dripping with venom and pain. "You promised me... I'd be invincible."
Kazadus turned to him, his brow furrowed in confusion. “I didn’t promise you a damn thing,” he replied, his voice flat and cold. He had no idea what Dante was talking about.
Dante’s eyes, wild and filled with desperate rage, locked onto Kazadus. “Damn you, Vil...v.vv.” he started to shout, but his words were abruptly cut off to a stutter. Suddenly, his body jerked violently, and a guttural scream tore from his throat. He convulsed on the ground, muscles seizing, his limbs thrashing uncontrollably against the earth binding him.
Kazadus’s eyes widened, his grip tightening on his holstered revolver. He quickly glanced at Gaia, a silent question in his eyes—Was this her doing? No it couldn't be. This wasn’t either of them. Something else was happening. Dante’s agonized screams grew louder, echoing through the streets. His body twisted and contorted in unnatural ways, his face a mask of sheer, primal terror. “Please...!” he screamed, his voice cracking with horror. “Please! I did everything you asked! Please No! No!”
His voice was filled with a visceral dread, as if something was tormenting him beyond physical pain. The screams turned into wails of sheer panic, the sound almost unbearable as he begged through tortured breaths. “Kill Me! Don't Let Him Take Me!”
EMTs rushed in, their training overriding their fear. They moved with urgency, trying to stabilize Dante, shouting to one another for sedatives, restraints—anything to contain the nightmarish scene unfolding before them. One of them, a middle-aged man with a calm demeanor, tried to assess Dante's vitals, but his hands shook as he saw the look of raw, unfiltered horror on Dante’s face.
“Hold him down!” another EMT called out, her voice strained as she prepared an injection.
Kazadus stepped back, his eyes narrowing as he watched. Dante’s screams continued, now reaching a fever pitch, his whole body trembling violently as if something was tearing him apart from the inside. The EMTs struggled to keep him still, their faces etched with both fear and determination.
“What the hell is happening?” Kazadus muttered under his breath, his instincts screaming that there was more to this than met the eye. But then, his whole world felt like it stood still against time.
Kazadus felt a chill like icy fingers clawing at his soul, an overwhelming sense of dread gripping him from within. His heart pounded fiercely in his chest, every beat echoing with a terror he had never experienced before. The chaos around him—the screams of Dante, the frantic activity of the EMTs—began to blur and fade as an immense, consuming darkness enveloped him.
He instinctively turned his head toward the looming shadow of a nearby building, a grotesque silhouette against the night sky. His eyes, scanning the darkness, were drawn to a pair of eyes glimmering with an unnatural malevolence. They seemed to pierce through the very fabric of reality, pools of abyssal blackness that radiated an ancient, unspeakable horror.
His breath caught in his throat. For a moment, time seemed to stretch as the eyes bore into him, a palpable presence of fear and terror that seemed to whisper dark promises into his mind. His mouth quivered, and he tried to blink away the horror. The feeling was almost paralyzing, an oppressive weight that threatened to crush him under its sheer malevolence.
Then, as suddenly as it had appeared, the presence vanished. Kazadus was left standing there, the world around him regaining its focus. His limbs felt heavy, as if he had been pulled out of a deep abyss. He glanced around, searching for any sign of the darkness that had enveloped him. His gaze met confused and frightened faces—some of the EMTs, the remaining crowd—none of them seemed to notice the shadow that had momentarily seized him.
The EMTs continued their frantic work on Dante, their expressions growing more grim by the second. Finally, one of them straightened, looking defeated and exhausted. “He’s gone,” the EMT announced, his voice heavy with the weight of finality. “Heart attack...”
Kazadus, his body still tingling from the lingering remnants of fear, stared blankly at the lifeless body of Dante. The horror of what he had glimpsed was still fresh in his mind, and he couldn't shake the feeling that whatever had terrified him was somehow linked to the darkness that had literally scared Dante to death. He thought to himself, “What the hell was that?”

Gaia could feel her own heart beating faster by the pure tenseness of the situation. Wondering how fast she could pull up a wall or a plant shield if he decided to shoot right through her to Dante. Would he be that cold? That hard? When he told her to move she shook her head.
"I won't!"
The last thing Gaia wanted to do was fight this man. She saw what he could do first hand by himself. He wasn't someone she wanted to turn into an enemy, but if she had to face him to keep her code. To do what was right then so be it. But thankfully after what felt like an eternity the man lowered his revolver and agreed to do it her way, but with a catch. God help Dante if he tries to escape now. Gaia wasn't sure if she could protect him.
"You're welcome."
She said with a smile to his thanks. But then she was pulled in by Dante's screaming. Calling out someone whose name started with V. The EMTs cut in and Gaia saw a darkness linger that seemed out of this world. Was it Thanatos? Her old enemy the Greek god of death? Medusa? No. It was something... worse. Gaia looked over to Kazadus.
"I get a feeling we'll meet again."
The city may very well need them to.
